Meet the Doctor

Welcome and Thank you for visiting our site.

When I was 16, my father had a major stroke which he thankfully survived for 8 years. Through this journey my family was challenged with faith, disappointment, hurt, loss, hope, choices, perseverance, and most importantly lessons of life. And we continue to learn even with his passing. Each challenge in our life can either destroy us or propel us to the next challenge. Life is a privilege and we have so many choices of what we can create and make of it. A healthy life is one of balance between the mind, body & spirit which will allow full expression of the creative energy that created us. I don't take my life for granted and I am grateful for my family & my experiences which have allowed me to choose to create the life I want & to help others everyday do the same.

I have been exposed to both the Eastern and Western philosophies of health and wellness. I see the benefit and need for each philosophy and have an understanding that each has a specific role in dealing with the body. My family always sought out natural healing methods including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and vitamins to help enhance healing. The Eastern philosophy views the body as a sacred entity, one with an innate intelligence that can orchestrate balance. When this balance is challenged, a variety of methods are used to help the body heal from the inside out. I believe that Western medicine is “Emergency Care” and is utilized when the body has gone too far down the road of disease and therefore needs outward intervention in the form of medications or surgery to stop or minimize the symptoms. However, medication & surgery do not fix the problem; they just minimize or mask the symptoms as the underlying problems continue to increase.

With a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Illinois, I was searching for a more holistic way to help others heal, mind and body. Around this time, my brother injured his back while playing volleyball. He could barely straighten to an upright position so he asked me to drive him to a chiropractor. We both were not familiar with what a chiropractor was but went on referral from a friend. I sat in the waiting room for about 20 minutes after which my brother walked out, straight, and wanting the keys to the car. That peaked my curiosity and my focus shifted to the chiropractic lifestyle. The premises which impacted me the most were the following: the body possesses an innate intelligence, the power that made the body would heal the body, and above all a chiropractor’s most powerful tools are her hands. This made perfect sense to me.

The human body is miraculous—from conception on, innately it knows how to turn 2 cells into four and over a period of a couple months a whole being is ready to journey into the world. This body was designed and made to self heal and self regulate as long as nothing interferes with the process. Our focus at TLC is simple, how can we learn to get out of the way of perfection. The choices we make in life: what we eat, drink, how we breathe, and most importantly how we think & perceive life can either add stress or enhance the body’s ability to function.

In the beginning I believed that I found chiropractic by accident, but later realized like many others, chiropractic found me.
