Meet Patty Pflanz, LMT
Many different events on my journey through life led me to the realization that my true passion is to help others reach their greatest potential through a health and wellness practice. My family & I had such profound results through our care at Touch of Life Chiropractic that I knew I had to change my life and follow my passion. Although working at a large successful company allowed me to grow & develop fantastic relationships, once I tapped into my best & most creative self, I felt a need to live my life with more joy. Wow! I couldn't believe how my goals had changed.
The holistic lifestyle was not one that I was born into. Over the years I have had various health concerns in which I consulted medical doctors with. However, very quickly I began to realize that this was just management of symptoms and not truly working towards increasing my health or the health of my family. So over the years, I was introduced to a few great Chiropractors & Acupuncturists who helped me & my family understand more about our bodies & helped us to overcome various symptoms some of which included: my youngest child, Amanda who had issues with her neck after some complications during her delivery & my daughter Kaitlyn who was very athletic and had incurred some pain with her body. Both of whom got tremendous results after a just few months of care.
In 2004, I came to Touch of Life Chiropractic by referral because I had some other health issues to address. After letting my health slack yet again, even though I "knew better", I was looking towards a future that included words like "not sick" and "not exhausted"! Dr. Helen Lee helped me look at wellness in a totally different light. I had to view my own health as more than just the absence of disease, and that a healthy and vibrant body is the state the body strives to be in. What an amazing way the body can heal itself when the brain is communicating clearly!
My experience at TLC was the first time a doctor had sat down and explained all the components of health: physical structural, chemical, and mental emotional; with a very specific plan for me. With various technique Dr. Lee was able get at the cause of & help clear the many mental & emotional events that had manifested themselves as physical symptoms. Now, Dr. Lee is the doctor my family and I chose to consult first for optimal wellness.
On this journey, I've finally realized what an amazing gift the gift of life is and how we need to take care of and respect this gift of the body in the best way we know how to. I was so amazed and inspired not only by my own results but those of all of my children that I quit my job of 20 years to work here in order to be a part of other people's journey towards optimal wellness and discovering their soul's purpose. I am profoundly grateful to God everyday for the guidance and wisdom He has provided to not only me, but all of us on our journey.
For me being a massage therapist and bodyworker was the best way for me to accomplish my true passion. I graduated from massage school in September of 2007, and became Nationally Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in October 2007. I have continued to learn and grow and became certified in B.E.S.T. and NST. I am continually amazed at our human potential more and more each day.

Therapeutic Massage at TLC

Massage has an extensive history dating as far back as 2000 B.C. and in studying various ancient cultures it shows that massage was a part of everyday life and in the remedies suggested for promoting optimal health and wellness amongst the Egyptian, Chinese, Greek and Roman physicians. Some conclude that massage is the oldest and simplest form of aiding the body to begin healing itself. Even Hippocrates (often referred to as the father of “Western medicine”) specifically described the medical benefits of massage, particularly for joints and joint flexibility.
Why hasn’t massage been more widely accepted in healthcare? As the negative connotations of the massage parlor image fades away, the awareness around the value of therapeutic massage continues to grow everyday. Studies have shown that bodywork techniques (which manipulate tissues and release tension and strain) have innumerable and measurable health benefits both physically (healthy circulatory system, good posture, etc.) and mentally (increased mental altertness, reduced anxiety, increased connection with mind-body etc.) As a result, massage clients tend to be more flexible and comfortable in their bodies and notice and increase in their general health.
Massage is most known for being excellent stress management. Did you know that massage improves functioning of the nervous, skeletal, muscular, lymphatic, and circulatory systems, and thus improves recovery times after injury or illness. Some publications state getting a massage once a month will result in cumulative health benefits, and for even more noticeable cumulative health benefits once every two weeks is suggested; once a week for physical trauma.
So how often you should get a massage? You know your body best, so that decision is your choice based on input from your body. Please go with your “gut” and speak to your therapist and/or doctor if you need additional input or want to set up a definitive wellness plan.
Well you may be thinking what is the difference between the spa experience and Touch of Life Chiropractic? Both have their value. The spa experience is great for increase in well being and it is just plain fun to “pamper” yourself from time to time. Touch of Life Chiropractic, however, provides a synergistic approach that allows each person to go deeper into healing. I work closely with Dr. Lee to collaborate on the best approach for any client. This is accomplished with B.E.S.T. technique, chiropractic care, acupuncture, nutrition, visualizations, and NST. The mission of TLC, our personal intentions for healing, dedication to each person, and peaceful atmosphere all work synergistically to treat the whole person. We always look to the whole person’s physical, chemical, and spiritual well being, and reawakening that mind body connection. Our aim is simply to be the vehicle by which the power that created you helps you remember and reach your highest human potential.
There have been a few pioneers in mind body field of study who have demonstrated how the mind can actually help heal the body and also how the body can heal the mind; everything is interconnected with the human being. These concepts which are the basis of Eastern and holistic healing are now being measured and validated in the scientific community.
The power of love, forgiveness, visualization, and working with clearing emotionally charged memories have led the way for those of us who have followed in these pioneers footsteps to really help all of you reach your greatest human potential and creativity.
May you have a blessed journey and we’d love to be a part of that journey with you!
