Can What you Think affect your HEALTH?
Dr. Helen Lee
What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters to what lies within us.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Our goal for all of you is to gain as much health as possible. In the demanding world that we live in today, if you were to just sit back and LET life happen, more than likely the degenerative processes would take over. Therefore, you have to be PROACTIVE in your own healthcare in order to make a positive difference in your body and in your life. Many of you have already started that process: by taking the time and effort to get adjusted, by deciding to make changes in your diet & nutrition, by committing to and prioritizing your health. And you’ve made tremendous progress—from addressing pains, headaches, correcting digestive problems such as heartburn, irritable bowel, etc. to being able to sleep again, and regaining some much desired energy. This is just the beginning.
What more can you do on a daily basis to add to your health? In our Wellness Workshop we talk about the six essentials of health. This should be your daily assessment of how well you are doing and where you can improve. 1. What are you eating? 2. What are you drinking? 3. How are you breathing? 4. How are you exercising? 5. How are you sleeping? 6. What are you thinking?
I want to focus on the last point, what are you thinking?
All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become.
~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
We’ve heard it before. Think positive, don’t be so negative. Innately we’ve known that this is a good habit to get into. Now science & research are proving just how important it is. Studies are now showing how powerful prayer is for a person who is ill. Any self improvement guru will always work on improving your ability to think positively in order to manifest what you want in life. Religions teach prayer and the power of positive thoughts.
Have you ever stopped to think about what kind of dialogue you have with yourself every single second of the day? If you’re like the majority of people, there are more negative thoughts than positive. How many times are you judging someone or yourself throughout the day? How critical are you of yourself? Most people are their own worst enemies! How many times are you getting angry? Frustrated? Worry? Anxious? Fearful? How many times do you think how much you "hate" this or that? Your body does not know the difference between hating something other than yourself--it just knows the feeling of hate--which resonates though your body. And most of these thoughts run automatically. Like a silent tape recorder that never stops. Emotions and thoughts create different chemical reactions and change the physiology of the body.
Masaru Emoto is a Japanese researcher who provided evidence that human vibrational energy, thoughts, words, ideas, and music affect the molecular structure of water by photographs. http://www.enlightenedbeings.com/water.html (We have a copy of the book, The Hidden Messages in Water, in the office.) He was able to document the changes in water crystals after being exposed to prayer, or thoughts of gratitude & love versus ones of hate & disgust. It’s absolutely amazing to see these pictures. Just a thought has the capability of changing the structure of water. Now, think about the fact that a human body is comprised of 70-80% WATER! What we think every second of the day has a direct impact on every cell in our body. Think about what you’re thinking. How powerful would it be & what kind of changes could be made if you were to begin to concentrate on adding more thoughts of gratitude & love. As you gain health through the physical and chemical components of your body, start to expand and utilize the amazing mind that you have to create optimal health every single second of the day!
There is a movie out in theaters called “What the Bleep do you know!” that follows a woman through a crisis which allows her to challenge her beliefs & fears. It is part documentary & story telling which addresses the power of thought, challenges our beliefs & thoughts of reality. I highly recommend this movie for those of you that are craving more information & that want to expand your thinking.
